Swarthmore college sucks

I realize the emails are annoying and "weird", but come on, there's more to any school than that. Please don't take this as me whining or. Swarthmore is one of the toughest colleges in the country, but it pays off. Aside from major intro classes like Psch 1 and Bio 12, class sizes are very. I go to Swarthmore. I love my school. I think academically it's great, I can take interesting classes with great professors.

It sucks because our patriarchal society creates and encourages the male to be unemotional, sexually aggressive, and dominant; where strength is everything and emotions are weakness, where sex and domination are yardsticks by which men are measured, and where “feminine” traits are the means and standards by which the status of a “man” can be taken away. Most frequent student complaints: too much work to do, not getting enough sleep, Sharples food sucks, town of Swarthmore sucks. We have something called misery poker, which is when you start off by saying how much work you have to do and other people go around trying to beat you by trying to tell you that they have more work than you. Got Matched to Swarthmore, but it sucks that it has a bad rep Most of the people I told irl just asked: "what's that?" Also, seeing the bad things said about Swat on this sub was sort of disheartening, to say the least. I realize the emails are annoying and "weird", but come on, there's more to any school than that.

Just shut up. I’m so tired of people telling people that love academia and are academically inclined to go into trades or to “start at a community college first.” Trades wreck your body in the long-run and a college degree will allow you to have a much higher earning potential for future jobs. I go to Swarthmore. I love my school. I think academically it's great, I can take interesting classes with great professors, I love my friends. But there are some things that I wish I knew about Swarthmore that are becoming more and more of an issue the longer I stay here.

Toxic masculinity sucks. And that is exactly the point I am trying to make. Boys, it is okay to have feelings, it is okay for you to be on the same level as a woman, it is okay to want something deep and meaningful. This message, however, is not what is preached to boys. Young boys as early as the age of 3 begin to internalize the concept that masculinity must be reached in order to become a man as they start to hide their feelings.
